Research Interests

Dr. Garoma's  research interests are focused on the removal of environmental pollutants from contaminated water, soil, and air using chemical oxidation, advanced oxidation, and biological treatment processes.  Dr. Garoma’s current research topics include:

  • Understanding the fate of selected emerging contaminants and developing effective treatment methods.

  • Developing treatment technologies for destruction of groundwater contaminants including fuel oxygenates and hydrocarbons.

  • Investigation of irrigation water quality issues faced by growers and developing treatment methods.

  • Analyze irrigation runoffs for the presence of fertilizers, pesticides, and sediments and developing treatment methods.
