• Try and wade through the advertisements in About.com's tutorial on pointers. They provide some good insight, and do a good job discussing dereferencing.
  
  
• Better yet is, once again, HowStuffWorks.com's tutorial; they also prvide more information on common pointer problems for novice C programmers.
  
  
• Also take some time to look over Cprogramming.com's take on pointers; this tutorial was written with C++ in mind, but the syntax and rules are the same. Simply substitute printf wherever you see cout <<...
