SDSU Mechanical Engineering Curriculum Symposium

Logistics - Transportation & Parking

Flights
San Diego's Lindbergh Field serves all major airlines--should you choose to travel by air. We encourage you to book your flights early. Some travelers choose other regional airports, including John Wayne International in Orange County (about a 90 minute drive) and Los Angeles International (about a 2-1/2 hour drive).

Car Rental
Most visitors choose to rent a car rather than rely on public transportation. Visit Breeze.net to compare the rental agencies that serve Lindbergh Field.

Public Transportation & Parking
San Diego's trolley system is an option if you plan to stay in the area through the weekend. [Unfortunately, the SDSU station does not open until July 9.] Several trolley stops are a very short car or taxi drive from the Hilton/Mission Valley.

For directions to SDSU, interactive campus maps, and search capability by parking structure, classroom or campus location, go to the SDSU Campus Maps page.

The stipend form (see the next steps tab) you'll submit includes a section about parking on campus during the symposium. We'll forward the parking permits by mid-May, along with directions to different parking structures you may want to use.

Parking Structure 1 (permit required) is the most convenient place to park relative to the College of Engineering (Click here for a map showing the Engineering building on campus); it's just on the other side of the pedestrian bridge accessed from the top floor of the parking structure. Parking Structure 1 is the first major building on the east side of College Avenue from the I-8 offramp. Click here for a map to this structure.
