Some Examples of Our Work
After working for over ten years in electronic and computer technology, Tom Johnston earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude, in Industrial Technology from San Diego State University in 1992. He specialized in drafting, computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), digital and analog system design, manufacturing and machining processes, industrial control circuitry/robotics and plastic injection molding processes.
Tom received a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University in 1996.
He specialized in modern adult education theory & applications, cognitive science, instructional design,
computer-aided instruction and integration of computer technology in the classroom.
Tom taught electronics and computer technology at Southwestern Community College before coming to San Diego State University in 1993. Since then, he has taught drafting, CAD, electronics and mechatronics for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Tom is presently the faculty advisor for the SDSU ASME Student Chapter. He also maintains and manages over 55 computers in the instructional computer labs located in Rooms E300 and E301.
