COMPE 271 Calculator Policy

(Spring 2007)

 

 

The following calculators may be used on CompE 271 Exams:

Hewlett Packard – HP 9s, HP 30s
Casio – FX-115, FX-260Solar, FX-300MSPlus (solar)

Texas Instruments – TI 30, TI 34, TI 36X Solar

 

The calculators on the list above are readily available through local retailers for $10-$20. If you do not already have such a calculator, a solar powered model is recommended as it will never need batteries. The Casio FX-115MSPlus is solar and can do binary and hexadecimal math.

 

Other non-programmable (or non-text storage) calculators not on list above may be suitable, but must be approved by instructor well before the exam.

 

Programmable scientific calculators, powerbooks and portable/handheld computers, pocket organizers, electronic writing pads or pen-input/stylus-driven devices (e.g., Palm, PDAs, Casio Class Pad 300), devices with QWERTY keyboards (e.g., TI-92 Plus, Voyage 200), and cell phone calculators are not permitted for use on any CompE 271 Exams.
